Fission:
How did you learn about Unexpect?

I found out about it from a friend who spends most of his time researching extreme metal bands.  He found the group by researching his favorite band (Dream Theater, which is a big "meh" in my book; though I respect their collective talent, I don't like their musical style) and then looking into others in the last Prog Nation tour lineup.  After that, he showed me some of the things off of "In a Flesh Aquarium" and I became hooked.  I watched those YouTube uploads a ton before buying my own copy, and then I recently finally shelled out for a copy of Utopia and _we invader.  So... epic!

I had gotten an iTues gift card or Christmas, and both my roommate and I were trying to decide what would be some good albums to buy. We had heard of Unexpect through Dream Theater's Progressive Nation tour earlier that year, and decided to check it out. Needless to say, I absolutely HAD to had shortly afterward  :P...

...and I've been an Unexpect addict ever since.

I found out about Unexpect back when they toured with Dream Theater on Progressive Nation 2009. The moment I saw the press release of the 2009 bill on another forum I frequent (Dreamtheaterforums.org), I immediately looked up the bands I had not already been aware of (Unexpect, Bigelf, Scale the Summit). I instantly fell in love with Unexpect, and it's easy enough to say that In a Flesh Aquarium has become an all time favourite album of mine.

Such good shit. Can't wait for the next release.

If you can believe it... I saw a commercial for Unexpect on TV...  ;)

This was in 2006, I guess around the time In a Flesh Aquarium was released, so the label aired a 30-second live clip of "Desert Urbania" on MTV2 (along with some other clips of artists with new releases at the time), which I think you can still find on YouTube. Well, those 30 seconds changed my life...

And it proves that advertisement DOES work!  ;)

That's really cool. Unexpect are one of those bands I would totally NOT expect to see a TV spot for.
